The timeless elegance of Saddlers Union in Porto Montenegro

July 2012 marked the opening of the first leather goods and accessories store to open in Porto Montenegro Village – Saddlers Union. Originally a small shop on Rome’s legendary Via Condotti, this Italian heritage brand received its first taste of fame when actress Brigitte Bardot bought one of their signature ‘bucket bags’.

The dolce vita style of the 50′s therefore served as inspiration for the opening party of Saddlers Union Porto Montenegro, held on Saturday, 21st July. Campari soda cocktails, fresh pizzas, mozzarelline and other traditional Italian snacks were combined with hostesses dressed in retro 1950s fashion, elegant Piaggeo Vespas parked outside and a soundtrack of classic Italian hits to help revive the mid-century spirit on Tara promenade.

Guests learnt how Saddlers Union has been a point of reference to the quality-focused Italian elite for decades, winning it a wide circle of admirers, from Jack Lemmon to Virna Lisi, Alberto Moravia to Gianni Agnelli and Jack Palance.

First Shopping Weekend Organized in Porto Montenegro

Porto Montenegro recently hosted its first Shopping Weekend on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th July, with visitors enjoying discounts at boutiques around the village, live music from Giselle Jazz Quartet on Saturday evening followed by a full-scale fashion show on the superyacht jetty and in-store cocktails.

Shopping devotees and visiting VIPs gathered to see the latest collections from many of the Village’s top stores as a dozen Montenegrin models took to the catwalk in an elegant display of beachwear, casualwear and eveningwear. The event was expertly hosted by Ilija Pejovic in both English and Montenegrin languages.

Spectators discovered the statement jewellery of UK-based Mawi, combining traditional craftsmanship with progressive designs. Another British name, Heidi Klein, offered a refined yet informal range of resortwear, swimwear and beach accessories, while Switzerland’s Anamar showed contemporary fashion accessories. The latest designer sunglasses from Optika Oko finished off the models’ outfits in true summer style.

The bohemian Wolf&Badger lifestyle boutique showcased independent fashion and design from the UK and beyond while locally-owned Mungos chose to show a range of designer diffusion lines from Trussardi, Chloe and Moschino. Straight from Berlin came Noé & Zoë with their kid’s fashion, toys, towels and blankets. Chucs beachwear combines French Riviera chic with a Caribbean twist and Savile Row quality, proving another hit of the evening, thanks in part to the two young school children who closed the beachwear section of the fashion show dressed in brightly coloured Chucs UV-protective tee-shirts.

One of the newest stores in the village, Saddler's Union, showed their handcrafted, Made In Italy leather goods and accessories, Carolina Bucci contributed various pieces of her designer jewellery with a bright, summery twist while Zoe&Morgan’s jewellery with a rock’n’roll edge ensured there was something for every type of client.

Finally, Supermarket Concept Store, a multifunctional space combing a gallery and boutique under one roof, also had its opening party on Saturday 7th July, just after the fashion show.

Inter-Club Match Race at Porto Montenegro

The Porto Montenegro Yacht Club held its inaugural Inter-Club Match Race from June 29th to July 1st this year. Six four-man teams of sailors were able to test out Porto’s four new 8ft Blu26 boats while their family, friends and guests enjoyed the hospitality program at the premier lifestyle destination in the Adriatic.

This three-day match race gathered representatives of some of the most prestigious European clubs including Gstaad Yacht Club, Bayern Yacht Club and the Royal Southampton Yacht Club. Representatives from Montenegro included the Skver team from Herceg Novi and the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club.

Outside of the heated competition and the glorious summer weather, participants had the opportunity to explore the Bay of Kotor for themselves, relax poolside at the 64metre Purobeach pool during the day and enjoy various social events around Porto Montenegro Village in the evenings.

The final day’s award ceremony was held during a spectacular sunset on the top terrace of Purobeach, a fitting end to such a successful event. The Bayern Yacht Club won 1st place while Skver took 2nd and Porto Montenegro came 3rd. Marina Director Tony Browne led the award ceremony, presenting each team with unique amphora trophies handmade by Slaby, a local art studio.
