The area around Porto Montenegro offers many extraordinary and diverse places to explore. Here are just a few ideas!
KOTOR and PERAST / 20 minute drive
A fascinating mix of Baroque (Kotor) and Venetian (Perast) architecture, these two towns are down the bay from one another. With many hidden alleys, old palaces and churches, there is much to discover.
ROSE / 30 minute drive
A lovely fishing village across the Bay, Rose is located at the tip of Luštica peninsula. Favoured by notable Montenegrins who keep holiday homes in the old waterfront buildings, Rose offers fresh seafood cafes and a quiet cove – Little Rose – which leads to sandy beach, perfect for those hot summer days.
MOUNT LOVĆEN / 60 minute drive
Soaring above Kotor, Mount Lovćen is the closest national park to Porto Montenegro and home to the Njegoš mausoleum. Climb the 450 steps to the highest coastal peak, from where you can see virtually the entire country.
SKADAR LAKE / 60 minute drive
The largest fresh-water lake in the Balkans, Skadar Lake is both a national park and bird sanctuary. Monasteries and forts dot the islands, and the southern coast is both pristine and stunning. Boat tours are available.
CETINJE / 90 minute drive
Montenegro’s sleepy old royal capital is the site of its best museums. Nestled in the mountains, the journey itself is worth the visit.
