Budva’s is one of the oldest continuously-occupied settlements in the Adriatic, its historic old town considered ancient even in the Middle Ages, with evidence of its habitation stretching back more than 2,500 years. Victim to a devastating earthquake in the 1970s – which revealed ancient Illyrian ruins – the town has been painstakingly rebuilt and restored using original materials, and today is once again a treasury of architectural wonders, dotted with restful shaded squares ringed by quaint cafés and shops.
