About the Exhibition:

In “Crucio,” Darja Bajagić invites viewers into a deeply personal and symbolic exploration of spirituality, transformation, and the human condition. Her work combines ancient and medieval cultural and religious symbols with photographs from her own childhood, crafting a complex and cryptic iconography that challenges straightforward interpretation. Like Orthodox icons, her paintings beckon the observer to engage with their “inner eye” to uncover meaning.

The series presents a striking contrast between the solemnity of ritual and an underlying disquiet. Bajagić’s use of materials and colors—ranging from dim earth tones to an array of blacks and murky hues—emphasizes the decay of the material world. The paintings evoke powerful imagery of putrefaction, rotting, and the inevitable return of all matter to the earth.

This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to delve into themes of life, death, and the spiritual journey in between. We invite art enthusiasts, spiritual seekers, and anyone intrigued by the mysteries of existence to join us for this thought-provoking experience at A&A Interior.
