Porto Montenegro, award-winning luxury yacht homeport and marina village, announces its highly anticipated 2024 Regatta Calendar. With eight prestigious regattas scheduled throughout the year, Porto Montenegro Yacht Club (PMYC) solidifies its position as a premier sailing destination in the Mediterranean.
“We are delighted to present our exciting lineup of regattas for 2024,” said Jenny, PMYC Manager. “Each event promises to showcase the beauty of sailing in the Boka Bay while bringing together local and international sailing talent.”
The regatta season takes off with the Montenegro Spring Cup, scheduled from 8th to 10th March, marking the first in a series of prestigious regattas lasting nearly seven months and promising a season of thrilling on-the-water competition that closes on 28th September with the Charity J70 regatta.
In May, the sailing action intensifies as PMYC plays host the Porto Montenegro Match Race from 10th to 12th of the month, followed just over a month later by the first edition of the PMYC Regatta on 22nd June.
The next two events scheduled for July include Montenegro’s premier local regattas – the Arsenal Cup, named after the local shipyard, and Fašinada, in association with Lahor Yacht Club – a traditional race offering a unique sailing experience as yachts throw stones into the water nearby the island of Our Lady of the Rocks. Both events pay homage to the rich seafaring tradition of the Bay of Kotor and its distinct naval history, gathering a local and international sailing crowd together.
On 3rd August, we see the second edition of the PMYC regatta and in September, the excitement continues with the Thousand Islands Race, an offshore regatta between the Croatian Port of Rijeka and Tivat, set to take place from 15-22nd, reinforcing the club’s reputation as a key Mediterranean sailing destination.
Regattas are open to local and international teams, offering opportunities for participants to either participate with their own boat, rent a J70, or enjoy the spectacle as spectators from their vessels.
